|In early 2013, human cases of H7N9, an under-studied avian influenza
serotype, emerged across eastern China. Commercial and academic
institutions disseminated press releases that poultry farms were the origin.
Although a half million avian and environmental samples were evaluated, no substantial
evidence defines an origin at domestic poultry production. Leading international
scientists have not identified a rational origin reservoir.
Anti-Viral Resistance and Human to Human transmission have been recorded in the early chronology of human cases. Standing studies indicate that vaccines are not generally useful for humans against H7 serotype infections. As of 2013-12-03, this eH7N9 zoonotic is sustained in humans and is recorded in 142 cases with 45 deaths.
Case Fatality Rate = 32%.
